Week Three

Day: August 6, 2012

Title: Finish Big

Scripture: Job 8:7–Though your beginning was small, yet your latter end would increase abundantly.

Question: What will I diligently pursue today?

Reflection: The reading tells the story of Scott McGregor who with his sons help developed a technology that changed the way cell phone operated.  Encouraging me to pursue hard paths because the rewards are greater.   That even when you start out small and without that with the hard work you can achieve greatness.  I have to believe that this is true.  That with God and hard work and faith I can achieve greatness that He has laid out for me.

Note:  I stopped doing my devotions.  I stopped making time for them.  I didn’t stop praying or believing but I failed at making myself set aside time, to do the one thing I need to do on a daily basis.  I can blame a million reasons, but the truth is I stopped doing them. I’m not proud of myself.  In fact I’ve been annoyed and furious with myself because of it.  There need to be a balance to get these done.  I left the blank spaces so I can go back and do them.  They are important.  Just as important as my interviews, news stories, reading my books everything else.  I need forgiveness for letting this fall to the wayside.

Day: August 17, 2012

Title: Pea Soup Prayers

Scripture: Proverbs 23:12–Apply your heart to instruction, and your ears to words of knowledge

Question: What part of my will needs to be abandoned in order for God’s will to take precedence?

Reflection: The reading is about how when we pray, we like to tell God how to do it. What we need, in our eyes.  The example is a little boy who would pray everyday for his mother not to make pea soup.  We see a problem (him hating the soup) and how we want the problem solved (not for mother to make it) instead of letting our wants and will take the back see and acknowledge that God is God and his is the most wise.  He will know what the problem is and the correct best solution to it.  I have many problems, things that are going badly in my life, and I do ask for God to move. I even pray for his will, but then I say this is how I want this God, your will but this way.  No wonder my stress level is so high, instead of believing in God and letting go I try to control it to the point of saying of how God should fix it.  Talk about roping his hands down.  So, here it goes, I’m letting go.  I have to I am not bigger than my problems they are very big, but my God is bigger.  He will take of me and my family.  He will.

Dear God,
Thank you for all you do for me, please help me let go and follow the instructions not give them.  Please take care of my family.  Let you will move in my life. So I can please you.

In your name I pray, Amen.
